This site will display both a map and a matching text list of any of 326 species of caddisflies and the same information for 135 species of stoneflies.

If you don't know the whole scientific name for your specific fly, DON'T PANIC! Not only have we included a search engine that will allow you to use the partial information you have in order to find the species you want, but we also have lists of common names here.

  • To see where caddisflies live, click on the caddisfly on the left, or, if you want to see where stoneflies live, click on the stonefly on the left.

    • Once you click on a fly, choose a family from the drop-down menu.

    • Once you choose a family, select both a species from the drop-down menu AND either a North America or Pennsylvania map.

    • If you want to change the type of map after you have made your species selection, you MUST change that selection using the top menu.

    • Once you choose a map type, a map like these will be displayed along with a text list.

    • The colors and text lists indicate where the species can be found.

  • If you wish to return to the home page, use the 'Home' button on the left.

  • If you are aware of omissions that have a valid literature citation or specimens with a voucher specimen on file, please contact E. C. Masteller.

  • If you find anything amiss with the site, please contact our Webmaster.
